"Transforming Austin by re-establishing close proximity to each other, and our food."
Modern culture and technology have
taught us how to be self sufficient to the point that many people
today are living in distinct isolation and dying virtually alone. But
today, more than ever, people are also finding out that when you live
alone, you miss out on all the benefits of living a life rich in
community and active love.
Austin community living exists to
encourage, educate and connect people who are interested in
discovering what it means to live in community within a culture that
tends to disconnect and isolate.
An important question in this process of discovery is, “what is community?” It seems like “community” is one of these buzz words, like “green” or “sustainable” that sounds really agreeable and helps us define what world view we belong to, but have lost much of its meaning due to the myriad of meanings that are currently associated with them. My hope is to find a working definition, for the purposes of Austin Community Living, so we can we can talk about living in community in a way that moves us from the realm of theory into the realm of doing.
